Drop One Hundred Twenty
Psalms 139:23-24
“Search me, O god, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts; And see if there be any hurtful way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way” (NASB1995).
Just the other evening as I was catching up on my devotions and spending time praying, a wonderful thought came to mind. God cares more about the condition of the hearts of those I love than I do. His plans and desires for them are greater than I could ever dream up. I have absolutely no reason at all to doubt His faithfulness. As much as I stumble and falter in my faith journey, He love still loves me. He still loves us. All He asks is for us to believe that while we were lost in sin, He sent His Son, Jesus, to pay our debt on the cross. And Jesus rose from the grave on the third day to show that He defeated death. He is the only One capable of living a perfect, sinless life. No amount of will power on my part will cure me of unwanted behaviors. Only Jesus. Before bed and whenever possible when our children were young, we had a repetitive exchange: “I love you!” said one of us. “I love you more!” said another. “God loves us most,” would be stated by myself or whoever started the exchange. And amazingly enough, He still loves us most.
Heavenly Father,
We love You. Thank You for loving us more. Thank You for creating us in Your image and desiring us to be more like You on the inside. As much as we love our children, families, and friends, You love them even more. As much as we wish this world was not so broken, Your desire is greater. We are not enough without You. With You, all things are possible. We believe You. Help our unbelief.
In the Name of Jesus we pray,
AMEN
