Luke 11:1

“It happened that while Jesus was praying in a certain place, when He had finished, one of His disciples said to Him, ‘Lord, teach us to pray, just as John also taught his disciples’” (NASB2020).

The response to the request is not demeaning. What Jesus shares next is commonly known as “The Lord’s Prayer”. While growing up, “The Lord’s Prayer” was recited word for word. But the Bible warns us of vain repetition, yet, praying scripture over our lives is encouraged. The basic formula of this prayer is to remember - God is our Father. He is deserving of our praise. It is in everyone’s best interest for His Kingdom to come and His will to be done (as our hearts are deceitful). He is provider. He is forgiver and only through Him are we able to forgive others. Though God allows the evil one to tempt us, He is the one to deliver us from evil. For His is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory forever (and ever), AMEN. God already knows our needs before we ask. He knows each of our hearts better than we do. He delights in hearing our prayers! Especially when we are confident and trust in His love and care for each of us.

Heavenly Father,

You are love. You are sovereign over all and delight in hearing us repeat back Your words and trust in You. You created the Heavens and the Earth. You created us to worship. May we fix our eyes on You and worship only You, not the created things You have provided. Forgive us for often being so enamored with Your gifts that we neglect praising and thanking You, the Giver. Cleanse our hearts and increase our desire to read the Bible and pray.

In the Name of Jesus we pray,

AMEN
