Psalm 36:1-4

“Do not get upset because of evildoers, Do not be envious of wrongdoers. For they will wither quickly like the grass, and decay like the green plants. Trust in the Lord and do good; Live in the land and cultivate faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart” (NASB2020).

Psalm 37:4 is a verse I have known for a long time. It makes a lot more sense when read with the context of verses 1 – 3 as well. Once our hearts are aligned with God’s desires, His will is the desire of our hearts. Not reacting and becoming upset by those who are doing well by the standards of this world aids in trusting in the Lord and doing good. Cultivating faithfulness takes time and the study of the Bible. Whatever concerns we have, we can hand to the Lord and He will give us His peace in exchange. Forgiveness offers freedom from the burdens of sin – Jesus’ blood paid our debt of sin so well, it covers past, present and future sins. And what are we saved from when we trust Him? The wrath of God. Romans 6:23 reminds us: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (NASB2020).

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for your faithfulness. Thank You for being patient with all of us. Thank You for transforming the messes of our lives into opportunities to demonstrate your goodness. Today we present to You the concerns of our hearts. Today we ask for our hearts of stone to be replaced with hearts of flesh. Today we trust in You to forgive us for doing wrong and redeem our lives to bring honor and glory to You.

In the Name of Jesus we pray,

AMEN
