Drop One Hundred Forty-Nine

Ephesians 6:10-13

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.” (NASB1995).

The other night I watched a movie explaining the origins of Proverbs 22:6 Ministries. The title is “Break the Cycle” and focuses on reuniting incarcerated parents with their children. There was one line in the film that resonated inside me more than all the others. One of the fathers had sent a note to his teen daughter stating, “I have made many mistakes in my life. You are not one of them.” My husband and I agree this is true of us. We made many mistakes, but not one of our children was a mistake. Each was brought into this world wanted and loved. Yes, we have struggled. Yes, we can be and are sometimes careless and hurt the ones we love. We are, after all, human. And we are in a spiritual battle that prefers to separate family members rather than unite them. Although our family is scattered, we love them. Lord willing, we will be ready and able when and if they want to build relationships. In the meantime, we love them anyway. Thankful for the one with which we have a growing relationship. Praying for reconciliation with all.

Father God,

Thank You for loving us. Thank You for trials meant to draw us closer to You. Help us to hold fast to You within the trials. May we humbly repent of our failings and give You all the glory for the work You are doing within each of us.

In the name of Jesus I pray,

AMEN
