Drop One Hundred Forty-eight
Hebrews 4:12-13
“For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of the soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.” (NASB1995).
As much as I really want the Holy Spirit to work through me, I tend to forget that He also works through others around me. My mind has been processing what it looks like to surrender. A combination of pastor sharing that the 10 commandments are more of a mirror reflecting God’s characteristics and the use of a magnifying glass to direct sunlight to magnify its power to “burn bugs” is filling my thoughts. It is important to reflect on God’s character and allow Him to be magnified through us. It is important to treat others and converse with others as Jesus does me. Recognizing frustrations found in circumstances as distractions and choosing to see the work He is doing within others and myself aids in spiritual growth. “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good, for those who love God, to those who are called according to His purposes” (NASB1995; Romans 8:28); especially the things that humble or even break the heart.
Father God,
You created all people, places and things. Everything exists to bring honor and glory to You. Upon everything and everyone is Your signature as Creator. Just as an artist writes his name on his work, Your fingerprints are everywhere. The very fact we exist is reason enough to praise You. Forgive us for the times we have treated others as anything less than Yours. Forgive us for harboring bitterness, anger, and unforgiveness towards others. We bring all of ourselves to You. Without You, we are nothing and can do nothing. Thank You for being faithful. Thank You for drawing us closer to You when we try to do things on our own. Thank You for protecting us and rescuing us from ourselves.
In the name of Jesus I pray,
AMEN
