Drop One Hundred Fifty
1 John 1:8-10
“If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us” (NASB1995).
Feel to Heal
Thankful that my sins are forever forgiven.
The details to all will never be given.
Though I know these secrets He will not reveal,
I know I must face them if I wish to heal.
The difficulty comes as deep inside
The recesses of my memories is where they hide.
Mostly to me they remain unknown –
Until a word in jest places them on the throne.
The fear of disappointment quickly returns.
The old “people pleasing” desire once again burns
Chanting, “Failure! Failure!” from deep within,
“You have failed. You have not a friend.”
Oh, the battles I have often fought
With, “You could … You should … You know you ought …”.
And though these secrets Jesus will not reveal,
I must face them if I wish to heal.
Father God,
You are Holy. There is none like You. You created the world and everything in it – including us. Thank You for choosing to love us and bless us with both good and bad. Thank You for being active in our lives. Protect us from the evil one and the temptation that can lead us to doubt Your goodness and love. As we reflect on the past, may we see Your interventions along the way. We pray for a fresh filling of the Holy Spirit within us. May we follow Your lead so we can forgive and love others well.
In the name of Jesus I pray,
AMEN
