Romans 12:1-2

“Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect” (NASB2020).

This is the complicated part of the Christian life. Living sacrifices tend to keep lying on and jumping off the altar. Offering up my things is so much easier than offering up myself. It is much easier to do something than be the offering. But sacrificing what we want is what we must do as the goal is for His will to be done. It is only when our will is aligned with His will that peace flows freely. James 4:8 states, “Come close to God and He will come close to you.” (NASB2020). The way we come to God best is through reading and praying His Word – the Bible. He loves it when we pray His Word back to Him. And when we “humble [ourselves] in the presence of the Lord, He will exalt [us] (James 4:10, NASB2020).

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for loving us. Thank You for faithfully pursuing us and renewing us. Help us to surrender to Your love. Break our hearts for what breaks Yours. Help us to trust as You lead. Remind us that our debts are paid in full thanks to the work of Christ on the cross of Calvary. Transform us into people that love well.

In the Name of Jesus we pray,

AMEN
