Drop One Hundred Five
Psalms 34:18
“The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (NASB1995).
It has been said that happiness and sadness cannot be experienced at the same time; however, joy and sorrow walk hand in hand. This summer has been a testament to that fact. Flood waters, drowning, wildfires, fatal helicopter accident, and so many tragedies that can pull our focus from the Lord. Thankfully, the Lord is near His children in all these things. Trusting Him does not mean we do not feel the pain of loss. Trusting Him does not mean we cannot mourn and show emotions. He gave us feelings and emotions. During times of sorrow we can lean into Him and know He is there. He provides comfort. He holds us and mourns with us. Psalms 30:5b states, “Weeping may last for the night, But a shout of joy comes in the morning.” May we trust Him through the sorrow and be open to accept the joy He offers.
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for your faithfulness. Thank You for loving us and choosing us to be your children. It is hard to see what good can come out of tragic loss. Help us to lean into You during times of great sorrow and walk with You through times of joy. May we trust You with all our hearts and not our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5). Help us to become more like You – faithful and steadfast.
In the Name of Jesus we pray,
AMEN
