Drop One Hundred Eighteen
2 Peter 1:4 - 9
“For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust. Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge, and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness, and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of your Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these qualities is blind or short-sighted, having forgotten his purification from his former sins” (NASB1995)
The last week of October had a lot of moving parts. And, as I revealed on Friday, my inner “Martha” was pretty much in “overdrive”. Thankfully, this weekend has allowed for some time of quiet study and reflection. My routine prior to last week was not sustainable with all the changes that came, and my devotions suffered. And when they suffer, those around me and I suffer the most. There is always the option to start from today or pick up where I left off. I chose the latter. It seems whenever obstacles get it the way, there is something I need in what was blocked. The above verses are part of what would have been missed, if I had just resumed starting with today. Are these qualities yours and increasing? God knows the answer. Ask Him, and He will reveal the Truth.
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for everything. Without You, nothing is. Your love is greater than ours and is a love we can share with others, through the power of the Holy Spirit living within us. Help us to see ourselves as You see us. May we be humble, repentant, forgiving, and living testaments to the glory of Your Holy Name. Help us to prioritize connecting with You each day above all else. May others be drawn to You as Your love is demonstrated through each of us.
In the Name of Jesus we pray,
AMEN
