Drop One Hundred Twenty-seven
Haggai 2:19
“Is the seed still in the barn? Even including the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate and the olive tree, it has not borne fruit. Yet from this day on I will bless you” (NASB1995).
Sometimes the consequences of poor choices are so heavy. It can feel like everything is going against the plan. It may very well be true. Especially if the plan is not His plan. Falling out of step with the Lord can have some hefty consequences. Does not change His love. It demonstrates His love. We learn very little when there are no negative consequences to our poor choices. I remember in 8th grade English class there was a quiz. I knew all the answers and confidently circled each one and turned in the paper. I was so shocked when I received my graded paper back with a big red “F”. I hadn’t followed the directions that were plainly typed on the paper. I was to underline the correct answers – not circle them. Obviously, the teacher’s decision to give a failing grade taught me to pay better attention to detail. I may never have even remembered that quiz if I had followed the directions the first time. But that lesson. Knowing she cared enough to let me know my mistake so I could learn from it – priceless. Knowing what is right and doing what is right are not the same thing. Be mindful in your walk with the Lord. He is with you every step of the way, loves you, and wants what is best for you. Trust Him.
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for another day to serve You. Thank You for filling the earth with Your glory so we can get a glimpse of You. Your ways are not our ways – they are greater than we can image. And even though Your gifts are wonderful, we need more of You. May we hunger and thirst for a closer relationship with You. Help us to serve You by loving one another just to bring You pleasure. Thank You for the responsibility and privilege to praise You. There is none like You. By Your grace and for Your glory we exist.
In the Name of Jesus we pray,
AMEN
