Hebrews 11:1 – 3, 6

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the men of old gained approval. By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible… And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.” (NASB1995).

Oh, what a day it has been and it is not even noon. I have been battling a cycling thought life and handing strongholds over to the Lord all morning. Only He has the power to break the cycles that have been pulling me every which way. As I was looking for one hymn that came to mind, I found a note written by my mother. The part of the note that strikes me the most is: “Ephesians 4:23 Your attitude is your thought life turned inside out.” The note also refers to www.joycemeyers.org. It was next to the hymn “This Is a Day of New Beginnings”. The words written by Brian Wren in 1936, are as follows:

This is a day of new beginnings, Time to remember and move on, Time to believe what love is bringing, Laying to rest the pain that’s gone.

For by the life and death of Jesus, God’s mighty Spirit, now as then, Can make for us a world of diff’rence, As faith and hope are born again.

Then let us, with the Spirit’s daring, Step from the past and leave behind Our disappointment, guilt, and grieving, Seeking new paths, and sure to find.

Christ is alive, and goes before us To show and share what love can do. This is a day of new beginnings; Our God is making all things new.

In faith we’ll gather ‘round the table To taste and share what love can do. This is a day of new beginnings; Our God is making all things new.

As Michael Card sang in his song “The Beginning”, “He hands us each new moment saying, ‘My child, begin again. You’re free to start again.’” I still remember Ron Hutchcraft’s quote from his “Saturday Night Alive” program on Moody Radio in the late 1980’s – “Satan dwells in the past because he has no future”. Lord, please help us move forward and trust Your will and plans are better than we could ever dream.

Father in Heaven,

You are The Almighty God. You are The Everlasting Rock. You created all that is and are the author and finisher of our faith. Without You, there is only nothing. With You, all things are possible. Thank You for being faithful and good. Thank You for clothing us in the righteousness of Christ so that we can boldly come before Your throne and trust You with our lives. Your plans are greater than ours. Help us to surrender to Your ways and Your will. If it pleases You, grant us wisdom, spiritual and physical healing. May we proclaim Your Gospel through the power of the Holy Spirit in both our words and actions.

In the name of Jesus we pray,

AMEN
