Drop One Hundred Fifty-Seven

Matthew 11:28 - 30

“Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. For My yoke is comfortable, and My burden is light” (NASB1995).

Yesterday was a very busy day. It seemed as if every group I am a member of gathered on the same day. Almost all of them did get together. Out of 6 activities, I was able to participate in 4. One I couldn’t because of concurrent timing with another, and the other – I listened to my body and napped instead. When I awoke, I heard Jesus words as recorded in Matthew 11:28 in my brain – “come to Me, all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest”. Then it hit me. How often am I driven by my busy-ness and miss Jesus’ call to rest in Him? How often are others struggling with the same? I have no regrets for resting and have actually rested more today, but I can’t say I have been truly resting in Jesus. Time to ask Him to reset my mindset, and “heart-set” again.

Father in Heaven,

Thank You for loving us. Thank You for choosing us. Thank You for faithfully calling us to come home and offering rest and better work. Rest for our bodies and mind is recognized, but rest for our souls is often overlooked. Wake us to our need to rest completely in You and trust the work You have for us to do is better than anything we can dream up on our own. We ask You to set our hearts and minds on the work You have for us to do and trust Your plan.

In the name of Jesus we pray,

AMEN
