1 Peter 5:5b

“After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you. To Him be dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (NASB1995).

Each day is an opportunity to start again. Michael Card’s song “The Beginning” has been one of my favorites since the early 1990’s. Favorite line in that song is “He hands us each new moment saying, ‘My child, begin again. You’re free to start again”. Even the Disney’s “The Haunted Mansion” has a line presenting a similar theme. It goes, “You try, you fail. You try, again. You fail. Yet, the only time you really fail is when you quit trying.” There is a rhythm to life. We have times of sorrow and joy. Times of sorrow invite us to seek the Lord’s help and comfort. During times of sorrow and trial, we can still find and remember joy. We can still praise. We can begin again. We can trust the One “who called you to His eternal glory in Christ.” Whatever and whomever you are praying for, keep praying.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for sending Jesus to rescue us from the father of lies. Thank You for the hope we have that our suffering will strengthen us and will end. You have a plan for each of us. Your plan for us includes suffering mixed with joy. The joy you offer is boundless, as is your peace. We believe You will see us through. Help our unbelief.

In the name of Jesus we pray,

AMEN
