Galatians 6:7-8

“Don’t be misled: No one makes a fool of God. What a person plants, he will harvest. The person who plants selfishness, ignoring the needs of others – ignoring God! – harvests of crop of weeds. All he’ll have to show for his life is weeds! But the one who plants in response to God, letting God’s Spirit do the growth work in him, harvests a crop of real life, eternal life” (NLT).

So much has changed during my lifetime. I remember never wanting a career because I really wanted to be at home and rear our children. However, my heart fell in love with the man of my life, who had a different perspective of how our life would be. I went to college and became a nurse, and he intended to go to college and learn to do small engine work. He never did. He did, however, open his own car detailing shop for a time and has been a dedicated employee for others most of his life.

Regardless of the choices made by him, them or me, adversity always plays a role in development and maturity. I mourn the life I wish we had yet, celebrate the life we do have. I am thankful God sent Jesus to bridge the gap and end the masquerade. Romans 3:10 reminds us: “As the Scriptures say, ‘No one is righteous – not even one”. No need to pretend to be perfect. It is only because of Jesus we have the privilege of boldly approaching the throne of God, making our requests known and trusting His faithfulness. The closer we are to Him, the more like Him we will become.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for loving us. Thank You for reminding us to be ever mindful and thankful for the blessings You send our way – even amid troubles. Every day is a day that You have made, and we will rejoice and be glad in it. Jesus told us we will have trouble in the world and to take heart as He has overcome the world. May we allow the Holy Spirit to do the work within us so we will be fruitful. May we pursue a bountiful harvest in Heaven.

In the name of Jesus we pray,

AMEN
