Drop One Hundred Twenty-four

Matthew 9:36 - 38

“Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd. Then He *said to His disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest’(NASB1995).

Today we received an answer to prayer. And when I understood that the answer was an answer to many prayers, I realized how selfish our prayer was. The need we had was not just our need. Multiple people had the same concern resulting from the same problem - a vacated role. While being on a waiting list for a medical test and praying for the appointment to be moved up, we should have prayed for a new worker. While praising God that the position has been filled and the people on the waiting list are getting the desired earlier appointments, the worker is now added to my prayer list. May the worker not lose heart because the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for seeing passed our selfishness and filling the need for more than just us. Your plans are so much greater than ours. Forgive us for our selfish nature. Break our hearts for what breaks Yours. Help us to become the men and women You have desired us to be from the beginning. May we truly surrender our lives to You, for without You we can do nothing. With You, all things are possible.

In the Name of Jesus we pray,

AMEN
