Drop One Hundred Fifty-Five

1 Corinthians 10:13

“No temptation has overtaken you except something common to mankind; and God is faithful, so He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it” (NASB1995).

Paul David Tripp has multiple devotionals and points to two basic things – I am my own worst enemy, and Christ is my only hope. He is faithful and true. He loves me more than I even understand how to love. He forgives me for things I have done and left undone – even before I realizedthe offense. The quote for July 17 in “New Morning Mercies” states “Sin causes me to be all too convinced of my righteousness and too focused on your sin” (Tripp, P. D. (2024) New Morning Mercies, Crossway). I am learning to escape the temptation to vent my feelings and to trust the Lord with them instead. The struggle is real, but the benefits will be worth the effort.

Father in Heaven,

You are Holy, Faithful and True. You are Love. Without You, we cannot love. Thank You for choosing to work within us and help us to trust You more. When temptation comes, my we choose to seek the way of escape provided by You. When we succumb to temptation, grant us the courage to confess, repent and return to You. Thank You for cleansing us from guilt and shame through the shed blood of Christ. Jesus paid it all for all. May we hand our brokenness and weakness to You in exchange for Christ’s righteousness and strength. May our actions and communication with others bring honor and glory to You.

In the name of Jesus we pray,

AMEN
