Drop Ninety-Nine
Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans that I have for you’, declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.” (NASB1995).
Perspective. Vantage point. Understanding versus misunderstanding. The story of Joseph, favored son of Jacob/Israel transformed into a leader in Egypt, has many perspectives regarding his situation. His brothers sold him into slavery. His father believed he was dead. His owner trusted him until his wife accused Joseph of attempted rape which resulted in a jail sentence. Even while being mistreated, Joseph looked to the Lord for strength and understanding while trusting His plan. Eventually, he is reunited with his family. When his brothers realize who he is, they are filled with fear. But Joseph forgives them and wisely states, “you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result …” (Genesis 50:20, NASB1995). Whatever you may be going through right now, trust God’s perspective.
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for using the pain of our struggles, trials, and testing to transform us into who You have called us to be. May we truly live for You, through the power of the Holy Spirit. May we “be transformed by the renewing of [our] mind[s]” (Romans 12:2, NASB1995). May we step forward today not focusing on the failures of the past, but the lessons we have learned through them.
In the Name of Jesus we pray,
AMEN
